Joining Alliances - Guild Wars Forums

Hi, im looking to see if anyone knows if theres anywhere else i can sign up for an alliance with a friends guild without having to plow through the pve side of the game. I'd rather take my time the first time through it but i have to get to cavalon it seems (my mates guilds luxon) but i dont want to just get ran through the game first time. Is there a way?
